Thermal Inspections
We have certified thermographers on staff. They utilize a thermographic camera to help create images that show temperature differences and potential problems in your facility. Other names are infrared thermography (IR), thermal video or thermal imaging
Thermographic cameras help identify unbalanced loads, poor connections, deteriorated insulation, and over worked electrical control components. We can safely scan electrical panels boards, transformers, battery racks, and other electrical components while energized without touching any live wires.
We can evaluate electrical and mechanical systems. Yearly or quarterly scans are recommended for most equipment and facilities. We can help you avoid costly breakdowns or premature wear.
Some issues we can spot include:
Overloaded circuits
Poor connections
Failing insulation
Unbalanced loads
Motor winding faults
Loose/Tight Belts
Under/Over greasing
Worn out bearings
Misaligned motor shafts
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70B §11.17.5 suggests that every commercial and industrial building in the United States should have an IR survey at least once a year. Equipment with moving parts should be scanned quarterly.
